Snow has come to the mountains!

Did you know there are four ski areas in northern New Mexico worth checking out?

Along a 86-mile scenic roadway that meanders through the beautiful Southern Rocky Mountains, there are 3 charming small towns and villages where you can ski to your hearts content.

All though, Sipapu Ski area isn’t along the Enchanted Highway, it is the state’s fastest growing resort with the longest ski season.
Conveniently located on Highway 518, Sipapu is just 20 scenic miles southeast of Taos.
All of these ski area are extremely family-friendly and known for the best deals in the Rockies.

Taos Ski Valley– Adventure seekers can take NM150 to the of the road, where the Village of Taos Ski Valley offers an ideal home base for Rocky Mountain activities- all under the shadow of Wheeler Peak, the highest elevation point in the state. Legendary among expert skiers but has plenty to offer beginners and intermediates as well.

Red River A stroll down main street reveals shops, restaurants and motels from a seemingly bygone era. The tiny hamlet –at an elevation of 8,750 feet- offers bright blue skies and plenty of access to the great outdoors. Visitors can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and more.The ski area has 64 trails, 7 lifts and more than 200 skiable acres.

Angel Fire ResortWith wide-open views this ski area offers a totally different feeling than any other New Mexico mountain resort. It is set in an open valley near Eagle Nest Lake on the east side of Wheeler Peak, and incredible place for star gazing and panoramic vistas.

Furthermore, this is the only place in New Mexico where you will find night skiing! Visitors can ski and board down alpine slopes designed for every level of athlete. There are 80 trails and 30 acres of open country. Also and excellent choice for tubing.

Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort – Founded in 1952, Sipapu maintains its old-school charm, comfort and accessibility. With some of the best ski and lodging deals in the state, Sipapu has continued its commitment to keeping ski prices affordable for everyone to be able to enjoy skiing.

Enchanted Forest - New Mexico’s only full-service cross-country ski and snowshoe area. They offer a full rental shop, cross-country ski lessons, guided and self-guided snowshoeing, fat bike rentals, a comfy day lodge and a midway “warming” yurt for a nice picnic, as well as overnight camping yurts.

With over 30km of groomed ski trails, 18km of snowshoe trails, and 5km of trails for outings with your dog, there are trails for everyone. Enchanted Forest is located just 3 miles east of Red River, NM on NM Highway 38.
